How we got there: Drove

Best For:  12 and below

Rating: 4 stars- it is a great place but in all fairness I'm 10 now and I don't know how much longer I'll want to go.  It was really fun for me when I was a few years younger. My parents couldn't get me to leave.  It's still fun, but it isn't as magical for me as it was.

Most Interesting I learned:  How to use a big loom.

Pittsburgh Children's Museum

The Art Room has printing and other things to do that change periodically.  Once they had a potters wheel.

I got to invent my own patterns and they posted them behind the loom so others can use them.

This is one of the top 10 children's museums in the US.  There are lots of hands on stuff, and parents enjoy playing with it too. They have areas for younger kids.  My recommendations are; the garage room slide, the gravity defying room in the place they call the attic and the theater.  Sometimes they have actors put on shows for families.  When they aren't having shows, kids can play on stage and come up with their own shows.
